Splashpaw layed down in the den. she sighed. It was taking forever for her to get a mentor! When was she going to ever get a mentor. Splashpaw was also tired. She closed her eyes slowly then fell fast asleep!

silentpaw awoke to find splashpaw sleeping in her den not far off from her. silentpaw lay quietly for a time. getting bord she stood and padded over to splashpaw pocking her with a silver paw.

In the middle of her dream she woke by the prodding of Silentpaw. "Wha...what is it?" she asked barley awake. She looked over her back and saw that Silentpaw was prodding her side. She looked at her with a questioning glance.

silentpaw lied saying you were mewing in your sleep are you ok? the only answer was a sleepy nod from splashpaw. silentpaw looked out of the den it was night but she was wide awake. she new the other cats were sleeping and seance they didn't have mentors to bother them in the morning she said lets go do something.

silentpaw padded past her into the cool night. she turned back to look at splashpaw saying i wonder what the forest looks like at night? want to come? it's better then trying to have fun in camp the others will defiantly wake up. she padded toward the entrance of camp.

silentpaw followed quickly matching splashpaws speed and raced out of camp into the dark forest.she slowed to a stop the trees of the day now looked menacing. there tops whipping back and forth in the wind. from somewhere deep in the forest an owl footed. the sound was chilling and made silentpaw shiver. she turned to splashpaw smiling i dear you to go out to that tree. to pointed with her paw to a tree that was barley visible in the night.

Splashpaw looked at her with a daring glance, then she nodded. Splashpaw walked up to the tree. She was barley able to see it at night! Putting her claws on the tree bark she started to climb. then she got high enough for her hind legs to go on the bark. She climbed all the way to the top. She walked onto a sturdy branch and sat down."Wow! I could see the whole forest from here!" she yowled down to Silentpaw.

Silentpaw mewed hey let me see!. she raced forward not really noticing where she was going. reaching the tree she didn't stop she just leaped into it her sharp claws catching the bark she clawed her way up to the branch splahspaw sat on. the tree was huge! the branches were wide enough for to cats to sit next to each other on them. the view was really amazing to you could see the whole forest! silentpaw looked out to the end of the limb. without saying anything to splashpaw she stood again as padded forward the limb getting Skinner it started to sag under her weight.

Splashpaw shot a worried glance at Silentpaw. "Wait! you will fall! Come back here!" she called to Silentpaw. Splashpaw didn't want to go and get her, otherwise they will fall! She watched her go. "Would you like to die or see more of the forest." she growled at ther.

silentpaw looked back saying don't worry out hear their are not other branches to block the view so I'm actually getting a better view then you are. she took another step out saying the branch will hold. it didn't. after a few more steps it started to crack. silentpaw whipped around almost loosing her footing. she ran back to splashpaw. only a tail length away from the break point the branch broke and fell taking silentpaw with it. silentpaw screamed. the branch hit another and she was forced off and sent flying through the night air. she landed on a branch closer to the ground. the air was knocked out of her but other then that she was amazingly fine. on shaky paws she stood looking up at splashpaw mewing I'm ok! come down here! her voice didn't shake. she had made sure it wouldn't she didn't want any cat to think she was scared. giving her self a shake like she was trying to get watter off her. silentpaw sat waiting for splashpaw to come down.

Splashpaw shoe her head in pity for Silentpaw. She crawled down to where Silentpaw was. "Told you it wouldn't hold! you could have gotten killed! If you did what was I supposed to do! Run back to camp and say Silentpaw is dead!" she growled, Splashpaw was a little angry at the moment, then looked at Silentpaw. "I'm glad your okay though." she mewed softly.

silentpaw was surprised by her friends anger. she padded to stand next to her and batted her ear playfully with her tail saying but I'm ok and i didn't get hurt so everything is fine. her voice was soft and calm. she added i want to go deeper into the forest though. no more tree climbing but it looks so cool! her light blue eyes shown with excitement at the idea.

Silentpaw mewed me never! i don't know what your talking about! she smiled to herself and padded after splashpaw. the wind had picked up and was whipping through the tree tops. they were slowly and wordlessly making there way toward the lily pond. the wind picked up as they drew closer. padding through a break in the brambles that surrounded the pond they looked out upon it. the moon appeared on the surface between the many Lily's that coved the pond and gave it its name. silver fish would leap out now and them causing splashes when they hit the watter again. silentpaw noticed the pond level was down when she saw a single rock sticking out of it in the middle. she mewed hey i bet i can beat you in a swim race out to that rock!

silentpaw smiled and crouched ready to leap into the watter. a second later she mewed go! and sprang from the shore. she splashed into cold watter seconds later, it took her breath away but she kept swimming wanting to beat splashpaw. the two cats made ripples on the watter and parted lily pades as they went making a straight line toward the rock.

Splashpaw didn't tell silentpaw that she has had experience when she was a kit! Splashpaw swam as fast as she could! Trying to beat Silentpaw!

silentpaw watched as splashpw pulled infront of her. they were near the rock now only fox lengths away. she tryed to swim faster but splashpaw remaind in teh leade and beater her. silentpaw puled herself out of the water saying good race! to splashpaw and adding how did you learn to swin so fast! she shook the watter fron her pelt and started to clean it while she waited for splashpaw to speak.

Splashpaw jumped out of the water and shook her fur before answering."Sit down its a long story, well not that long!" she started anyway."When I was a kit, I hated staying in camp all the time! So one day I snuck out of camp and walked through the woods. I came across water, it looked fun to get in the water and go for a swim! So I jumped in! I was drowning for a few seconds, then my legs started paddling, it was strange. It seemed as though they already knew how to swim! My mom never named me yet, and she found me swiming in the river. I swam to dryland and walked up to her. She was amazed! After that day, I was known as Splashkit!" she mewed happily.
